Do you fancy shooting hoops right in your backyard? If yes, putting a basketball court in your backyard is a project worth considering. With a custom basketball court, you can make the most of your outdoors and build your skills and athleticism all year round.

What Benchmarks Should You Consider?

When building a basketball court in your backyard, there are several things to consider.

The Size of the Basketball Court

The first question anyone putting a basketball court in their backyard should ask is, “Do I have enough space?” Ideally, you want enough space to accommodate the free throw lane and space behind the backboard to avoid playing over.

At Sport Court Las Vegas, we custom design courts to be the perfect fit for your space and budget. The following are common measurement details based on a basketball half court size.

The free throw lane is 12’ wide and 15’ from the backboard. So ideally, a 12’x18’ is adequate for a court. Also, if you want a three-point line on your basketball court, you will likely need to go at least 27’ deep from the pole.

The breakdown is as follows. First, you need to measure the three-point line from the center of your rim and not the pole. Usually, a high school basketball court has a three-point line 19’9” from the center of the rim or hoop. The center of the hoop is also 15' from the backboard. So, you need around 45 to 50’ wide if you want the full length. At the end of construction, your basketball court will be 30’x50’.

What if you don’t have enough room for the entire three-point line? Well, you can downsize to 27’x27’ or 27’x35’. With these courts, you’ll have adequate space for 3 on 3 games, and all critical points of a three-point line.

Basketball Hoops

While it’s tempting to go for any available basketball hoop, it’s best to do the research and purchase quality products. Tempered glass is great to shoot against because it gives excellent feedback. We install our quality crafted Hoops to ensure you get the best rebound with each shot.

However, there are also polycarbonate and acrylic backboards. Adjustable hoops are also great for young kids who cannot reach higher hoops.

Construction

Sports Court Las Vegas handles all your construction needs. We ensure that your base is stable by excavating the yard, stabilizing the soil, and using quality concrete to ensure your court remains flat. In addition, we bring our team and equipment and clean up, so you don't have to worry about cleaning up any messes in your backyard.

We have quality and tested court flooring materials ready for custom design and installation. Our basketball flooring is safe and durable and also ensures drainage for your outdoor basketball court. You’ll also enjoy great bounce and stability as you dribble on the court.
